Sol Mýa Dean — known in the villa simply as Sol — is a 24-year-old model and waitress from Orange County, California, who joined Love Island USA Season 8 as a Day 7 bombshell. Her week in the villa was short, but her afterlife online has been anything but: search interest in Sol spiked when fans noticed that Michael B. Jordan had been liking her Instagram posts, a story Cosmopolitan quickly picked up. Here's everything people are actually asking about her, answered in one place.
Who Is Sol From Love Island USA?
Before walking into the villa, Sol was living a very normal Southern California life. She worked as a waitress and model, and also picked up shifts on the front desk of a gym. Cast bios describe her as a laid-back West Coast personality with a passion for fitness, fashion, and adventure — someone who thrives in social settings and is always chasing her next experience.
She grew up in Orange County, California, and has also spent time living in Chicago. Sol has credited her father, a poet, with sparking her creative side and her pull toward the entertainment industry.
Sol's Age, Birthday, and Zodiac Sign
- Full name: Sol Mýa Dean
- Age: 24 (born November 15, 2001)
- Zodiac sign: Scorpio
- Hometown: Orange County, California
- Job before the show: Waitress, model, and gym front-desk staff
Yes — a Scorpio bombshell entering an established couple's orbit is exactly the kind of astrological chaos Love Island producers dream about.
What Is Sol From Love Island's Ethnicity?
"What is Sol mixed with?" is one of the most-searched questions about her — and the honest answer is simpler than the speculation. Sol is a Black American model. She has not publicly broken down her family heritage in interviews or on her socials, so any specific claims about her being "mixed with" this or that are fan guesses, not confirmed facts. Outlets like StyleCaster and Distractify that dug into the question landed in the same place: she's Black, and she hasn't said more than that.
Sol's Love Island USA Season 8 Journey
Sol entered the Season 8 villa as a bombshell on Day 7 and immediately made an impact. America's first vote of the season paired her with Sincere Rhea — officially breaking up Sincere and Melanie Moreno, whose relationship had already been one of the season's most turbulent storylines. Sol and Sincere's connection produced a few private kisses, which did not go over well with Melanie.
The run was brief: Sol was dumped from the island on Day 14, exactly one week after arriving. But in classic Love Island fashion, one dramatic week of screen time was enough to make her one of the most-Googled names of the season — with a little help from a very famous admirer.
Sol's Instagram: @itssoll
Sol posts on Instagram as @itssoll. Her grid is what you'd expect from a SoCal model — beach shots, fitness content, and modeling work — and it has been growing fast since her villa debut. It's also the exact place where this whole story started.
The Michael B. Jordan Instagram Likes, Explained
In early July 2026, viewers scrolling Sol's page noticed something: Michael B. Jordan's verified account had liked her posts, including the photo she posted for her 24th birthday back in November 2025 — before she ever set foot in the villa. Screenshots spread across TikTok and X, Sol's castmates reacted on the show's social feeds, and Cosmopolitan ran the story under the very accurate headline "LOL, Michael B. Jordan Was Caught Liking Sol From Love Island's Instagram Posts."
Two things worth knowing before anyone starts planning a wedding. First, Sol and Michael have never met in person, as far as anyone has reported — this is strictly a double-tap situation. Second, this is a pattern: Jordan also liked posts from Andreina Santos of Love Island USA Season 7, and he's known to like non-celebrities' posts fairly often. Still, the timing turned Sol into a trending topic overnight, and it has plenty of people asking about the actor's actual love life — which we've covered separately in Who is Michael B. Jordan dating in 2026?
For Sol, either way, it's a win: a week in the villa, a viral celebrity co-sign, and a modeling career that suddenly has a much bigger audience watching.
