The case is Cavanaugh v. Fanatics, LLC, in the Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County, Florida. The allegation is that Fanatics advertised “Free Shipping” or a low flat shipping rate while charging a separate handling fee on the same orders. Fanatics has agreed to settle; the allegation has not been established in court.
Now the part that will surprise people who saw a headline about a “$10 payout”.
There Is No Money in This Settlement
Not a reduced amount of money. None. The entire class recovery is two vouchers.
| What you get | Two $5 vouchers |
| Where they work | Fanatics.com only |
| Together on one order? | No — “may not be used together on the same single purchase” |
| Expiry | 12 months from issue |
| Cash value / transferable | Neither. Single use, no residual value |
| Combining with offers | Only with offers that do not require a code |
That is worth knowing before you decide whether the form is worth your time. It may well be — if you were going to shop there anyway, it is $10 you would not otherwise have. If you never intend to buy from Fanatics again, the honest answer is that this settlement gives you nothing you can use.
Up to $1,450,000 in Fees, $10 in Store Credit
Class counsel will ask the court to approve up to $1,450,000 in attorneys’ fees and litigation costs, subject to final approval. The benefit to each class member who files is two $5 vouchers — $10 in store credit, redeemable only at the company that charged the handling fee.
That is not an accusation. Fee awards are ordinary in class settlements and the court has to approve the amount. But it is the clearest available measure of what this case is worth to whom, and it is the figure worth having in front of you when you decide whether the claim form is worth ten minutes of your evening.
Who Is Eligible — and the Asymmetry Nobody Flags
You are in the class if, while in the United States, you ordered merchandise through a Fanatics website between 6 May 2018 and 30 March 2026 and paid a handling fee.
“Fanatics websites” is a defined list and it is broader than the name suggests — it includes NFL Shop, NBA Store, MLB Shop, NHL Shop, FansEdge and league and college team stores. Orders through retailers Fanatics does not own are excluded.
Note also that the class period runs all the way to 30 March 2026. People often assume settlements only cover the distant past. Orders placed a few months ago count.
You Do Not Need the Claim ID and PIN
This is described almost everywhere as a no-proof claim, and in one sense it is: you do not upload a receipt or an order number.
The Claim ID and PIN come from the email or posted notice and speed up verification, but they are not required fields. You can submit the online form without them. You can also download a paper claim form, or request one at handlingfeesettlement@noticeadministrator.com or from Fanatics Settlement Administrator, c/o Analytics Consulting LLC, P.O. Box 2010, Chanhassen, MN 55317-2010, and return it postmarked by 27 August 2026.
If you believe you qualify and never received a notice, do not assume you are excluded — call the administrator on 1-877-601-8705. Claims are still subject to a verification process, and the form carries a declaration under penalty of perjury, so this is not a free voucher for people who never shopped there.
Do Not Expect It Soon
The notice is unusually blunt about timing: no vouchers will be issued until the court approves the settlement and all appeals are final, and resolving appeals “can take more than a year”.
So a claim filed this August may produce a voucher some time in 2027 — which then expires twelve months after it arrives.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the Fanatics settlement deadline?
27 August 2026, per the court notice and handlingfeesettlement.com. The exclusion and objection deadlines are the same date, and the final approval hearing is 16 September 2026.
How much does the Fanatics settlement pay?
No cash. Two $5 vouchers usable only at Fanatics.com, single-use, expiring after 12 months. Class counsel will separately ask the court to approve up to $1,450,000 in fees and costs.
Can I use both vouchers on one order?
No. The notice says they “may not be used together on the same single purchase” — $5 off two separate orders.
Who is eligible?
Anyone who, while in the US, ordered through a Fanatics website — including NFL Shop, NBA Store, MLB Shop, NHL Shop and FansEdge — between 6 May 2018 and 30 March 2026 and paid a handling fee.
What if I never got a notice with a Claim ID?
You can still file. The Claim ID and PIN are optional fields on the official form. Call 1-877-601-8705 or email handlingfeesettlement@noticeadministrator.com for a paper claim form.
What happens if I do nothing?
You get no vouchers, and you are still bound by the settlement — you give up the right to sue Fanatics over the claims it releases. The only way to keep that right is to exclude yourself by 27 August 2026.
The claim, exclusion and objection deadlines of 27 August 2026, the final approval hearing of 16 September 2026, the two $5 vouchers, redemption limited to Fanatics.com, single use with no residual value, twelve-month expiry, non-transferability, the prohibition on using both vouchers on the same purchase, the restriction on combining with offers that do not require a code, the 6 May 2018 to 30 March 2026 class period, the defined list of Fanatics websites, the availability of a downloadable paper claim form, the verification process, the declaration under penalty of perjury, the release that binds class members who do nothing, and the warning that vouchers will not issue until approval and all appeals are final, all taken from the court-authorised long form notice in Cavanaugh v. Fanatics, LLC (Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Miami-Dade County, Florida) and the official settlement site handlingfeesettlement.com, administered by Analytics Consulting LLC, August 2026. The long form notice does not mention a Claim ID or PIN at all; the official site says only that the claim form “should include” them, and the administrator supplies a paper form on request, so the absence of a notice is not a barrier to filing. The figure of up to $1,450,000 in attorneys’ fees and litigation costs is what class counsel will request, subject to court approval. Fanatics has agreed to settle; a settlement is not an admission of liability, and terms may be changed by order of the court. This is general information, not legal advice.
