Developing — last updated July 27, 2026. Outage situations change hour to hour. This page reflects what was confirmed at the time of writing; Downdetector and the My Spectrum app are the live sources for your address.

If your Spectrum connection dropped this morning, you are not imagining it and it is probably not your equipment.

What Is Actually Confirmed

The honest position: the disruption is real and multi-market, but the company has not said why or for how long. Anyone telling you a specific restoration time right now is guessing.

Is It the Network or Is It You? — Check in This Order

  1. Check Downdetector first. If the graph is spiking, stop. It is the network. Nothing you do at home will change it.
  2. Open the My Spectrum app. It reports outages tied to your specific address, which a national map cannot. This is the single most useful check and most people skip it.
  3. Only if both look normal, treat it as a local fault: restart the modem and the router (modem first, wait for it to settle, then the router), check the coaxial and ethernet connections are seated, and try a wired connection to rule out Wi-Fi.

The reason the order matters: rebooting a modem during a regional outage costs you several minutes and resolves nothing, and it is the first thing almost everyone does.

Why Reports Look Different Depending on Where You Look

Downdetector is crowd-sourced. It measures people reporting problems, not the network itself — so a spike is strong evidence something is wrong but not a measurement of how many customers are affected. Third-party outage-map sites layer their own estimates on top of the same data. That is why numbers differ between them, and why your provider’s own status tool remains the authoritative one for whether your service is affected.

If You Need to Stay Online

  • Phone hotspot — the fastest fallback for calls and email; watch your data allowance if you are streaming.
  • Ask for a credit afterwards. Providers commonly issue prorated credits for confirmed outages, but usually only when the customer asks. Note the date and how long you were down.
