‘Tracker’ Season 4: October Return, Filming Already Started — and the Show Has Quietly Left Vancouver

The most-watched drama on American television is coming back, and the useful news is not the renewal — that happened in January. It is that season 4 is already being filmed, and it is being filmed somewhere new.

The Dates

Note the overlap: the season starts airing months before filming finishes. That is normal for a broadcast network drama running 20-odd episodes — episodes are delivered while later ones are still being shot.

Vancouver to Los Angeles

The production change is the genuinely new information. Tracker has filmed in Vancouver since it began; for season 4 it moves to Los Angeles.

For viewers this mostly shows up in the look of the show — the Pacific Northwest greys that gave Tracker its texture are harder to fake in Southern California, and location work will change accordingly. For the industry it is part of a broader push to bring shooting back to California.

Who Is Coming Back

• Justin Hartley — Colter Shaw, the survivalist reward-seeker at the centre of the show.
• Fiona Rene — series regular.
• Sofia Pernas — expected to return as Billie Matalon.

The regular cast is deliberately small. Tracker runs on a case-of-the-week structure, so most of each episode is guest cast — which is also why it travels so easily to new viewers.

How Big Is This Show, Actually

Bigger than most people outside the US realise. Tracker has been the most-watched primetime telecast in the United States — rivalled only by NFL football. Since its 2024 debut it has sat at the top of broadcast ratings, which is why CBS renewed it in January rather than waiting for the usual spring decisions.
