Every headline this week says Landman season 3 has been delayed. That is true in effect, but it is not quite what happened, and the difference is the reason nobody can give you a date.
You Cannot Delay a Date That Was Never Set
Paramount+ has never announced a premiere date for season 3. There is no date on a poster somewhere that has now been crossed out.
What changed is the production schedule. The season was expected to film earlier in the summer, which would have supported a late-2026 return in line with the show’s established pattern. Filming is now set to begin in September and to run through the first quarter of 2027.
So the honest framing is: the expectation of a 2026 season is what has gone, not a promise.
The Arithmetic That Rules Out 2026
This is the part worth doing yourself, because once you see it the guesswork stops.
| Stage | When |
| Filming begins | September 2026 |
| Filming ends | Through Q1 2027 |
| Post-production | Overlaps and follows the shoot |
| Expected premiere | Late winter to early spring 2027 |
A show still shooting in the first three months of 2027 cannot have aired in November 2026. There is no version of that calendar which works, which is why the “is it coming this year?” question has a firm answer even though the release date does not.
The November Pattern — and Why It Matters Here
Landman has been an unusually punctual show.
- Season 1: premiered 17 November 2024, ten episodes, running to 12 January 2025.
- Season 2: premiered 16 November 2025, finishing on 18 January 2026.
Two seasons, two mid-November premieres, one day apart on the calendar. That rhythm is exactly why so many people assumed November 2026 and why the schedule change reads as such a jolt.
Season 3 will be the first to break it. Measured from season 2’s premiere, the gap goes from twelve months to roughly fifteen or sixteen.
How Many Episodes?
Ten — the same count as both previous seasons. On past form that means a weekly Sunday release running about two months from premiere to finale.
Where the News Came From
The update did not come from the studio. It came from James Jordan, who plays petroleum engineer Dale Bradley, who said filming begins in September. Stephen Kay is expected to return to direct.
That is worth keeping in mind when reading anything firmer than this. An actor describing when he reports to set is good, first-hand information about the shoot. It is not a Paramount+ release date, and it should not be read as one.
Who Is Coming Back
The series was co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace and stars Billy Bob Thornton, with Demi Moore and Jon Hamm among the leads. A full season 3 cast list has not been published, and any detailed list circulating now is assembling it from previous seasons rather than from an announcement.
